![]() ![]() I had just turned nineteen - just finished my sophomore year in college - when I married a Naval officer and continued the odyssey that military life requires. High school was back in New York City, but by the time I went to college (Brown University in Rhode Island), my family was living in Washington, D.C. I was born in Hawaii, moved from there to New York, spent the years of World War II in my mother’s hometown: Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and from there went to Tokyo when I was eleven. I was a solitary child who lived in the world of books and my own vivid imagination.īecause my father was a career military officer - an Army dentist - I lived all over the world. That left me in-between, and exactly where I wanted most to be: on my own. Little brother Jon was the only boy and had interests that he shared with Dad together they were always working on electric trains and erector sets and later, when Jon was older, they always seemed to have their heads under the raised hood of a car. My older sister, Helen, was very much like our mother: gentle, family-oriented, eager to please. ![]() ![]() ![]() "I’ve always felt that I was fortunate to have been born the middle child of three. ![]()

On top of that, Bec must contend with bitchy models, her new boss, Candace, who is just as difficult as the tabloids say, and two guys, a hunky Italian bike messenger with a thousand-watt smile and a fashion blogger with a razor-sharp wit, who are both vying for her heart.Ī really fast paced read that reminded me of Gallagher Girls. Zeihan has been involved in geopolitical strategy for some time - he was at Stratfor and then went independent with his own signature - and his three previous books have all pointed in the same direction ('The Accidental Superpower', 'The Absent Superpower' and ' Disunited Nations'). Peter Zeihan details in almost five hundred pages what the world will be like once globalization collapses: these are not 'imaginations', he assures, but the result of a serious process of prospective analysis. Many warn of the coming de-globalization, but very few imagine it in detail. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you’re a Juliette and Adam shipper, sit down because I am about to present to you a persuasive essay longer than the ones I wrote for my college professors. So I’m happier than could be when it comes to the conclusion of the love triangle between Juliette, Adam, and Warner, despite the fact that many (including several friends of mine) hated it. In the fifth outing for Tommy and Tuppence, they have just bought a new house in the little village of Hollowquay and find themselves struggling with all the problems that come with moving house. These books are not murder mysterys so much as detective thrillers and spy stories, and while Christie is usually pretty good at whatever she attempts, but here … well, look, I’ll explain after a synopsis. As mentioned there, this series follows the exploits of married couple Tommy and Prudence “Tuppence” Beresford as they grow up and grow old, from their early twenties in the first book to their mid-seventies as they are now, making them the only Christie characters to age in time with the real world. ![]() It is also the final part of the Tommy and Tuppence series, the rest of which can be found elsewhere on my blog, specifically here, here, here and here. The words are easy enough for earlier readers to read along aloud with their parents, too. His facial expressions remind me of Snoopy. Dash is cute and very friendly in the illustrations. This is a fun story young children will love to read even if they don’t have a dog. She kept saying, “Taz does that and he looks like that too when you vacuum the house, mom.” She also related to how a dog might think Sweeper was a threat. My soon to be 6 year old, on the other hand, kept laughing at Dash and how he thought the Super Sweeper 5000 was a dog.
